Snort is one of the most widely used open-source IPS (Intrusion Prevention System) that is used widely across the world. Course Contents

The first module of Snort Training will make the candidates familiar with the packet logger, Network Intrusion Detection, and Sniffer mode along with the processes of packet acquisition, generic output, supporting tunnelling protocol, and the control socket. The next module will cover the configuration of Snort including the uses of preprocessor rules, processing multiple events, profiling the performance of the network, working with the host attribute table, reload a previously configured Snort configuration, active response, and so on. The module of this training focuses on writing Snort rules including Rules Header, Rule Option, post-detection Rule option, the detection option for pay-load and non-payload detection option, and the methods of writing effective and appropriate rules.

In the next module of Snort Training, the candidates will be introduced to the Dynamic Modules that include Data Structure and necessary functions for the Snort process. In the last module, the candidates will learn some advanced topics of Snort like the submission of patches, Unified 2 File Format, Snort data flow, and Buffer Dump utility.
